A Makupa based traffic police officer controlling at the banks of junction of Mombasa on Monday lost his
life after he was dragged by a 24 year old motorist who refused to stop when he was flagged down.
Mvita subcounty police commander Maxwell Agoro while confirming the incident said that two traffic
police officers were controlling traffic when they noticed a long coming vehicle from coast general
hospital direction being driven carelessly

The police boss further said the officer was rushed to a local private hospital for treatment but
unfortunately was pronounced dead on arrival. The motorist however
continued with his journey to Nyali and also hit a packed motor vehicle after reaching his destination.
The sub county Police commander appealled to motorist to always have valid documents while driving
and to drive a motor vehicle in a manner that is prescribed
The police independent oversight authority condemned the accident that led to the death of a traffic
officer . Ipoa chairperson Anne Makori said it was time for the inspector general police to broaden
investigation to the causes of attack on police officers and noted that the hostility between police
officers and members of the public has led to loses of lives property and livelihood . The authority urged
the members of public yo refrain from taking laws into their hands and instead follow the proper
channel in reporting police misconduct.
