The tribunal probing the conduct of suspended iebc commissioner irene mast is expected to resume today after it was postponed from feb 9th to today of which it will be conducted at the kenya institute of curriculum development in nairobi.

Following the president appointments Muchelule will chair the tribunal. Carolyne Kamende,Linda Kiome,Mathew Nyabena,Saeed Khamisi will aso be among the appointed members of the tribunal.

The tribunal is expected to receive final highlighting submissions which will be considered in determination of its recommendations. The tribunal led by high court judge aggrey muchelule concluded the hearing of witneses on 24th of jan after the former iebc boss appeared before the judge.

Irene masit is the only commissioner whose conduct during the elections period was subjected to scrutiny by the tribunal after her three colleagues resigned.

The former vice chairperson juliana cherera and commissioners justus nyangaya and francis wanderi are among them.

Our news outlook sources this morning confirms the readness within the tribunal to start recieving accused reply this morning in nairobi.

Last week masit lawyer donald kipkorir took to his twitter that he was ready to face off wth his client accusers when the tribunal resumes its sitting.

“my submissions on behalf of iebc commissioner irene masit for filing before muchelule tribunal are ready. In my long legal career, i haven’t taken so many days & reading hundreds of case law & scholarly articles as i have done in this matter. I do this for god, country & history,” he tweeted.

In another tweet, kipkorir took a swipe at azimio team, accusing it of riding on the case for political gain without offering masit any support as she battles to clear herself of the allegations.

“the above statement is to stop one side of the political divide riding on the case when they have no ownership nor have they offered my client any support (which support will be rejected) & the other side thinking commissioner irene masit is against them. She is impartial,” kipkorir wrote.

Kipkorir will today set out to discret evidence so far adduced at the tribunal by its lead council peter munge portraying masit and her colleagues of supporting the request by azimio team to have the final presidential election results varied in favour of raila odinga.

The tribunal on 24 of jan heard from the former iebc boss wafula chebukati that the team fromazimio led by the national security advisory council nsac wanted the former iebc chairman to moderate the presidential result in favour of odinga of which it argued it will save the country from plunging into turmoil and chaos. They stated that tuju insisted they would be adequately rewarded if they moderate the presidential results in favour of raila odinga.

This only comes in a few days after the former prime mister alleged that chebukati and his colligues were at his home during the 2022 elections. Wafula chebukati in reply asked the azimio leader to present the footages of confirmation failure to do so he would sue him. Odinga has observed silence on the matter holding strong that the 2022 election results were riggided.he has been recorded severally claiming that the mistrust in african electral bodies confirms the no need of voting to elect leaders.
