Police in Busia have launched investigations on a case where a number of unknown persons allegedly stole a firearm, gas cylinder, and two radios from police houses in Milimani Estate near the Kenya-Uganda border.
According to a police report, Busia county Commander Bishar Muhamed walked into his house at around 9:30 pm on Saturday to retire after his day’s work and woke up Sunday morning with his room ransacked and left in a chaotic jumble.

“He woke up feeling headache and dizziness only to see his suitcase kept near his bed lying on the floor with the clothing scattered all over,” read the report.
Commander Muhamed noticed that his firearm, a Czeska Pistol, together with 15 rounds of ammunition were missing from his suitcase. He then alerted police units within the county who arrived at the scene.
Upon arrival, officers established that the burglars broke into the house through the rear door after spaying the room with a stupefying drug.
The report added that the unknown persons also broke into another servant quarter belonging to Christopher Ewoi, who was not in the house by then.
A 6 kg gas cylinder and a radio were stolen from the main house and another radio from the servant quarters.
A K9 tracking dog is said to have been brought to the scene and picked some scent which lead it to a feeder road heading to Uganda but disappeared before the borderline.
A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the perpetrators who are still at large and recover the firearm.
