The rate of male sperm released during intercourse has dropped by 51 percent in the past 50 years, research by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, in Israel, and the Mount Sinai College of Medicine, in the United States explains.
Researchers did calculations and found that in the 1970s, men had an average production of 101 million reproductive cells per milliliter of seminal fluid. That average has dropped to 49 million in recent years.
“The ability to conceive is decreasing,” says male reproductive health specialist Moacir Rafael Radelli.
It is a problem all over the world and experts explain various reasons including keeping computers on the lap and being overweight as well as the use of alcohol and drugs.
