Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary general Francis Atwoli has been re-elected for the fourth term to the position of Vice President of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).
Atwoli was elected to the post at the ongoing trade union organization’s 5th Congress in Melbourne, Australia, with the body boasting of a membership of over 200 million people drawn from 163 Countries.

The congress man started serving as a Director of the Central Organisation of Trade Unions, Kenya from the years 1986 – 1994 during his tenure, he oversaw many advancements in his department which then prompted his superiors to promote him

In the mid year of 1994 – to-date Francis Atwoli advanced his position to the General Secretary of the Kenya Plantation & Agricultural Workers Union.

And from 2001 till date he has been serving as the secretary general of the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU), together he has overseen five administrations and being reelected on those adminstrations as the overall serving secretary general

The COTU chairman had been summoned by the EACC for questioning about his advast wealth. he had been summoned together with others, with Kakamega governor HE. Fernandes Barasa appearingto be the main man in the meelee
