Argentina destroys UAE in pregame play with goals from Lionel Messi and Angel di Maria.
Argentina defeated the United Arab Emirates easily on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi thanks to two goals and
one assist from Lionel Messi.

In their final World Cup warm-up game, Argentina easily defeated the United Arab Emirates 5-0 to extend their unbeaten streak to 36 games. In Abu Dhabi, Joaquin Correa, Julian Alvarez, and Lionel Messi all added goals in addition to two goals from Angel di Maria. Before Di Maria doubled their advantage, Messi selflessly set up Manchester City’s Alvarez for the opening goal.

Before halftime, Messi added a third and Di Maria made it four, then Correa sealed the victory after the
break. Niclas Fullkrug’s 80th-minute goal gave Germany a 1-0 victory against Oman, and Krzysztof Piatek’s goal gave Poland a 1-0 victory over Chile. 2018 World Cup runners-up Croatia defeated Saudi Arabia 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Andrej Kramaric, and Sweden defeated Mexico 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Mattias Svanberg after Alexis Vega had overturned Marcus Christer Rohden’s opening goal.

The competition starts on November 20 on a Sunday and ends on December 18 with the championship
game at Lusail Stadium. On November 20, at 5 p.m. (14:00 GMT), before the Qatar-Ecuador game, the
opening ceremony will take place. The official tournament anthem and soundtrack, as well as La’eeb, the tournament mascot, who will have a role to perform, will all be included in the ceremony. Jung Kook, a K-
Pop icon and member of BTS, will perform during the opening ceremony.
