Following the appointment of Musalia Mudavadi as the Chief Cabinet Secretary few weeks ago by President William Ruto, the Amani National Congress has moved to reorganize its party. Lamu Governor Issa Timamy will now handle the party leadership replacing Musalia Mudavadi after he was unanimously given the mandate by the delegates of the party to serve as the new leader of the party.

“Honorable Mudavadi has been in the political scene for very many years and he is a giant in politics in this country and the various positions he has held in this country surely indicates his stature and therefore it is a challenge and am up for that challenge.” Issa Timamy said.

In the just concluded general elections, ANC struggles to compete against other parties such as ODM, UDA, Jubilee and even FORD Kenya. Timamy says more is needed to be done for the party to remain competitive and attractive.

“If we want to be successful, we have to start planning and that planning will have to start now and not tomorrow. I believe the energy, the faith the devotion which we will bring as a leadership of ANC to this endavour will light our party and all those who serve it.” Issa Timamy.

“I want to confirm to members and affirm and say this authoritatively that ANC is here to stay, it will never fall, so all parties expect us, we will be competitive in the political world going forward.” Kelvin Lunani, Chairman ANC

The party has scheduled a delegate meeting to talk about what led to the dismal performance in the past election with a view to find a workable formula to return the party to national appeal.

“We shall soon go for a retreat where we will analyze what happened, what went wrong, why we performed poorly and at the same time we shall come up with a 5-year strategic plan leading to the 2027 elections.” Issa Timamy.

Hon Musalia Mudavadi will remain in the party as key advisor.
