Malkia Strikers bagged their first win in the ongoing world volleyball championships in Netherlands after smashing their long term volleyball rivals Cameroon three sets to nil, the Kenyan queens won in sets of 25-20, 27-25, and 25-19.

” It’s time to celebrate a little bit but from tomorrow we need to continue working on the process of development for each individual player but also we’re trying to build our legacy as Malkia strikers and I’ll be focused on this development for them as an individual player and then as a group player as well.” Malkia Strikers Headcoach Luizomar Demoura.

Both Malkia Strikers and the Cameroon team have dominated the African volleyball and has represented the continent in the previous Olympics as well as the volleyball world championships of 2018. Despite starting with a defeat from the hosts Netherlands, Malkia Strikers are likely to qualify to the next round if they manage to win against the European champions Italy tonight and  against Puerto Rico.

In September 2021, Cameroon emerged as African champions in the AVCON volleyball competitions by defeating Kenya 3-1 to bag the title. Malkia strikers head coach and players were excited and are optimistic of producing good results.

“I believe in my teammates because the effort they have shown today was magical coz we had discussed yesterday about the match and I’m really proud of my team mates because what we discussed and what we agreed is what they delivered.” Sharon Chumba-player
