Yesterday president William Ruto nominated Japeth Koome Nchembere as the new inspector general of police. This comes after Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai, who held the position asked for a terminal leave after experiencing health conditions. The president received and accepted the request and nominated Nchembere to be considered by the parliament to
be the inspector general of police.
The president also received the resignation notice from the head of DCI, Mr
George Kinoti. He said that the position should be searched for a new chief
security to hold the position from the national police service after a thorough
public recruitment.
The resignation of the two chief securities is no surprise to many, the two and
the president have had speech clashes during the nearing august 9 th general
elections.
