The Kenya Union of Clinical Officers now calls on the government to urgently put in consideration the
welfare of nurses claiming they have been neglected in the last 10 years of devolution.
According to the union , whose main aim is to fight and defend the rights of healthcare workers in the
country, for the past 10 years under devolution, healthcare workers have experienced myriad of
challenges.
They claim the health sector has been neglected for a long period of time yet it’s the key sector in the
country.
The main issue has been the delay salaries as a good number of healthcare workers are yet to receive
their July salaries up to date.
They are calling on president William Ruto’s government to involve health stakeholders to solve their
long term challenges.
They have also urged the government to put preventive measures for health matters such as COVID-19
and Ebola and not to wait until the pandemic strikes before taking an action.
