Police in Ruiru, Kiambu County are pursuing 3 gunmen who shot and killed a 35-year-old man on sunday morning as he and his girlfriend were arriving home after a night out.
The directorate of criminal investigation are on the trail of three armed gang stars who fled after shooting and killing a mid-aged man.
According to police report, Geoffrey Sigei and Winfred Karuithi had arrived at the apartment in Ruiru in two separate vehicles at 4.30 am when they were confronted by the armed thugs.
The apartment security guards said three men forced their way inside the compound as soon as the vehicle entered the building and began run sacking one of the vehicles.
The deceased was shot the abdomen as he confronted them for attacking his companion, Sigei was rushed to a hospital in Ruiru where he succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment.
Crime detectives based in Thika visited the scene and recovered two spent cartridges. It has since established that the two on their way home had been trailed by a silver Toyota Prado that the assailants used as their gate away vehicle.
Police are calling anyone with information leading to the arrest of the gang to forward to the nearest police station.
