Sonko’s fate
Mbuvi Gideon Kioko, commonly known as mike sonko, the former nairobi governor, appears to be a man with political muscles, considering the big margins of victotry witnessed in his earlier contests as makadara mp, nairobi senator and later on a governor. His political journey has had ups and downs, his latest smile being brought about yesterdasy by the electoral commision, that handed him a clearance certificate allowing him to contest in the mombasa gubernatorial race.
But as the old saying goes, he who laughs last, laughs best. His political fight with competitors is yet to be adjourned. Sonko’s joy will either be cemented or burried today evening at the supreme court, as the 7-judge bench is set to deliver a judgement over his impeachment of 2020.
Few days ago, the mombasa court ruled in favour of sonko, saying that the commision’s refusal to clear him was unconstitutional, since his case appealing his impeachment by nairobi mcas in 2020 was still in court, thus paving way for his yesterday’s clearance by iebc.
Sonko had been barred alongside former kiambu chief executive committee member for youth karungo wa thang’wa, who is running for the kiambu senatorial seat on uda ticket, who has also received the court’s go-ahead, in the contest.
If the supreme court decision today will be ruled against sonko, saying that his impeachment was lawful and legal, the electoral commision’s next step, would be revoking the clearance certificate handed to him yesterday, by iebc returning officer swalaha yusuf. On the other side, his victory at the supreme court would be a remarkable boost to the azimio wing since he would be very instrumental, in attracting both nairobi and mombasa’s votes into odinga’s basket come 9th august.

H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged security agencies to continue the Multy-agency approach in dealing with crimes and safeguarding security of Kenyans .The president noted that the approach has enabled security officers drawn from different agencies to collaborate leading to a significant improvement in the state of security in the country . Speaking at the multi-agency training camp in Kamanga in Seikuru Kitui county where he presided over the passing out of 256 special forces of the administrative police .President Uhuru expressed optimism that with the graduation of the fresh contingent of A.P special forces , the will be a much more safer place .
At the same time , the president assured security agencies that the government continue to provide all the facilities required to enable them conduct there duties efficiently including the provision of modern equipments , weapons and vehicles .
The A.P’S special forces comprises of 3 troops , special recque team , special operation group as well as special weapons and tactics . During the occasion ,president was treated to a demonstration of the skills that the officers have acquired . The climax of which was a shooting competition which administration police constable Noah Anai from S.O.G got the top price while his counter part Margaret Njoroge from SWAT came second
